There are so many traditions to enjoy during the holiday season like high school football games, Christmas shopping, and visiting with family. For some families, the holiday season means finding the best displays of Christmas lights whether that means crawling the streets of local neighborhoods or attending official displays by businesses and the community.
There are several great displays around Frisco, TX apartments neighborhood close to the Villas of Chapel Creek, so you don’t have to drive far to see the festivities. Here’s a list of some of the best annual light displays around Frisco.
Christmas in the Square
Held from November 27 to January 2, Christmas in the Square is billed as the “largest choreographed holiday lights and music show in North Texas.” 2015 is the 11th year the festival has been arranged, and organizers say more than 665,000 people visit the square each year for the event.
One of the neatest parts about this celebration is that the holiday music is broadcast on 107.3 FM, so you can tune into the channel while you’re driving past the holiday lights and see the displays synchronized to the music. You’ll even see snow flurries in the square on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the festival.
Near Your Apartments: Frisco Christmas
Many homeowners and apartment dwellers hang a few strings for the holiday season, and the results are fun and festive. Jeff Trykoski, a homeowner in Frisco, takes his holiday light display to a whole other level. Located at 4015 Bryson Drive, Trykoski creates a huge display of lights for his house that rivals just about any residential light display you’ve ever seen.
In 2013, Trykoski was invited to the campus of Texas A&M to put lights on display, so his house was dark for a year. However, he returned the next year to put the lights on display again at his house. The display appears in early December, about a week or two after Thanksgiving.
The Fairways Christmas Display
A group of residents who live at the Fairways subdivision love Christmas, and they decorate their homes with tons of decorations that go well beyond the classic twinkle lights. The most spectacular display happens at 2673 April Sound Lane where the owners erect more than a dozen huge inflated lawn decorations that look like famous characters like Frosty the Snowman.
Another subdivision where many residents put up lights is the Deerfield subdivision in nearby Plano. If you’re willing to drive over to McKinney, you can visit the Eldorado neighborhood where each street chooses a theme each year and decorates accordingly.
When is the best time to see light displays?
If you’re excited about the holiday season, you might want to head out to see the light displays just as soon as the turkey leftovers are gone from Thanksgiving, but you might want to wait a few weeks. The week before Christmas is usually the best time to see the most lights because anyone who got a late start with their display will have the lights up by that point.
In addition to the fantastic light displays you’ll see during the holidays, Frisco also hosts a pretty spectacular main street festival called Frisco Merry Main Street. 2015 will be the 25th anniversary of the annual event, which will be held on December 5. Also, the town also hosts a gingerbread house, a holiday-themed 5K race, and a “Breakfast with Santa” event.
If you’d like to join in these fun holiday events as a resident of Frisco apartments, you’ll want to tour the Villas of Chapel Creek to see how living in an exclusive apartment community is the best way to experience life in North Texas.
